PANAVISION NEW FILMMAKER PROGRAM Director Alexa-Sascha Lewin was the recipient of a Panavision New Filmmaker grant in June 2008 for her film, The Honeysting. A competitive grant program, the Panavision New Filmmaker Program provides a camera package to promising new filmmakers who meet Panavision’s standards of excellence. Past grant winners include director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean’s 11, 12 & 13) for his independent film, Sex, Lies, and Videotape, as well as director Jared Hess for Sundance favorite, Napoleon Dynamite. Panavision is the leading designer, manufacturer, and supplier of high-precision camera systems, and Cinematographer Eric West knew that the high quality of their cameras and the stellar optics of their Primo Prime and Zoom lenses would fulfill the vision Alexa-Sascha Lewin had for The Honeysting. Ric Halpern, Manager of the Education and New Filmmaker Program, has been extremely supportive of the film and graciously granted The Honeysting the Panavised Sony HD-900 F camera package.
Director Alexa-Sascha Lewin: "I am truly grateful to Ric Halpern and the support Panavision provides for emerging filmmakers. It’s an honor to be the recipient of a Panavision New Filmmaker grant. Panavision is renowned the world over for being technologically innovative and filmmaker friendly, and I look forward to a long and collaborative working relationship." |
