May 11, 2009 - AFI PRESENTS UP-AND-COMING DIRECTORS WITH THE DIRECTING WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN (DWW) RED CARPET SHOWCASE PREMIERE AT THE DGA - Martha Coolidge, the first and only female President of the DGA and director of such noted films as Rambling Rose, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, and Valley Girl to host

For the first time in the DWW's 35 year history, the Showcase Premiere was held at the Directors Guild of America. Directors Alexa-Sascha Lewin, Dominika Waclawiak, Joy Gohring, and Meredith Berg produced the Premiere along with Event Producer Jovan D. Owens of Caviar Dreams. It was a spectacular night, with over 700 people attending the sold-out premiere. AFI Publicist John Wildman lined up a slew of press, including Wire Image and Real TV Films to both photograph and interview the directors, cast, crew, and celebs as they walked the red carpet.

The evening could not have been such a phenomenal success if not for the magnanimous support of Nathaniel Neubauer of Contemporary Catering. Guests enjoyed the delicious appetizers and desserts donated by Contemporary Catering. The premiere was sponsored by Jack Daniels, Finlandia Vodka, Korbel Champagne, Mighty Leaf Tea, The Standard, and Final Draft - who through their generous donations made the DWW Showcase Premiere such a groundbreaking event. It was a night that will go down in DWW history!
